Videos in the Library catalogue

WorldCat Discovery is the McGill Library catalogue where you can find all of the videos in the collection. These include videos that you can watch online and physical formats that you can take home.

The catalogue uses video as a format type for movies and other recordings. Limit the format type to retrieve all types of videos, or select one of the subcategories: eVideo (electronic), DVD, VHS, Blueray, and Film. WorldCat Discovery - Videos PDF "how to"; Saving and sharing records PDF "how to"


Streaming video collections

AVON - Academic Video Online - Alexander Street: More than 60,000 videos on a broad range of topics. They have their own guide to searching and navigating the video player.

National Film Board of Canada (NFB): There are over 3,000 films to watch online (there is a charge to download films), including English and French documentaries, animations, and fiction. The McGill Library subscription includes educational works that are not included in the free public access. NFB PDF "how to"

Kanopy: Thousands of films and documentaries from a variety of independent filmmakers and distributors, including HBO, BBC, and PBS. Kanopy includes Great Courses. Kanopy PDF "how to"

YouTube is a great place to find videos and follow your favourite channel providers. YouTube PDF "how to"

McGill Office for Science and Society (OSS): Videos on YouTube from Dr Joe Schwarcz and Science Communicator, Jonathan Jarry.

Schulich School of Music: Recordings of concerts and events on YouTube. They also have recordings (audio and video) on their website, which requires a McGill VPN for off campus access.
