McGill Community for Lifelong Learning (MCLL)

A guide to help MCLL members navigate McGill Libraries and discover resources to support their lifelong learning.

Visiting library spaces

I invite you to explore the different McGill Libraries branches and locations. Each has unique spaces and collections. They are open to the public during regular hours, which differ by library branch.

Some of the things that you can do in the library include:

  • Work quietly in a silent study space
  • Work in groups in areas where noise is permitted
  • Use computer workstations and software: See the McGill email address activation PDF "how to".
  • Scan, print, and photocopy: Bring a USB key and try out our Spirit scanners, or purchase a print card.
  • Borrow or consult books and other physical items (CDs, DVDs, etc)

Borrowing physical items

You will be able to obtain a McGill Libraries borrowing card in order to check out materials:

  1. Please fill out this form to receive a temporary account number.
  2. Get in touch with the library (email: hsslloans.library@mcgill.ca; or come into a branch library) with the temporary account number to be assisted with completing the process.
  3. To obtain the borrowing card, show your MCLL membership card or a copy of the MCLL study group registration information that you received by mail.

Your borrowing card expires twice per year (January 31 and September 30), and will be renewed automatically if you are registered for a study group.
