We are seeing lost access to Clarivates Incites platform affecting Journal Citation Reports and Essential Science Indicators. A message stating a lack of subscription is being displayed. Clarivate is investigating and we are waiting on a resolution.

RESOLVED: The download mechanism for Taylor & Franics e-books is currently not working. When users click on the download button, the browser ‘spins’ and then eventually resolves to a 404 Error page. The issue has been reported to the provider and they are working on a fix.

Online reading is unaffected and users may also use the "print to PDF" function of their browser to obtain a PDF copy of text.

RESOLVED: Criterion is continuing to experience a site outage for its streaming server. The publisher is aware of the problem and indicated a high volume of usage as the reason. Currently access is not possible.

RESOLVED: The issue affecting our access to current Nature articles has been resolved.

Nature journals to which we have subscriptions are presenting paywalls for current content articles. We have reported the issue to the publisher and are actively working to have access reinstated as quickly as possible.

RESOLVED: ASM is currently experiencing technical issues, which are causing outages across the following ASM websites:

• journals.asm.org
• connect.asm.org
• Logging in to your account on asm.org

ASM is aware of the problem and the challenges it causes, and they are working diligently to restore access to these sites as soon as possible.

RESOLVED: The Fulcrum platform is unexpectedly down at this time. The vendor is aware and is currently working on a fix. The outage affects the following restricted collection hosted on Fulcrum:

• ACLS Humanities Ebook (HEB)
• British Archaeological Reports Digital Collection (BAR)
• University of Michigan Ebook Collection (UMPEBC)

RESOLVED (March 4, 2023). We are currently experiencing an issue when accessing ProQuest Central links within Discovery (Sofia). The links are resolving to an error message that reads:

“The link you clicked triggered a search in ProQuest that did not find the item you were expecting.

Required link information may be missing or incorrect. Ask your librarian or administrator for help.”

Once on this page, you can navigate within ProQuest to still access the title you need, for example by going to the “Publications” menu option and searching for the journal or book title. We are currently working with the vendor to resolve this issue. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

We have started seeing an issue with our "McGill Library Full Text" links to the link resolver not displaying in Google Scholar, even after McGill has been selected in the library settings.

The issue is being investigated with our catalogue service provider.

RESOLVED: We are currently seeing an access issue affecting Ebook Central authentication over EZProxy resulting in an "Access Denied" webpage. We are working with providers to make immediate changes to restore access, but in the meantime, Ebook Central can be accessed using the direct link https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/mcgill/home.action on campus, or by using VPN for off-campus, and for the time being, not using the personal 'sign-in' button (top-right).

Latent certificate errors remain and are being investigated.

RESOLVED: Overly-broad title matching for e-book and e-journal links.

Following an update to the architecture of our knowledge base handling links to online content, we are seeing broader than expected matches on links in Sofia (Discovery catalogue). A fix has since been implemented to resolve this problem.

RESOLVED (September 12, 2021). Please note that the McGill Library website will be updated on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 8 am to 4 pm. This maintenance work may result in catalogue-related links to library content being temporarily unavailable. The links may be unavailable for approximately 15-60 minutes during the morning hours of the update period.

Recommended Solution: USE VPN. No resolution with EZproxy is currently possible.

There is an issue with the display of images within Ancestry using EZproxy. A sample image is presented, no matter which image is selected. The cause is being investigated.

RESOLVED: Domain Site error for the 'recaptcha' mechanism is preventing submitting the "Report a broken link" form while on EZproxy.

OCLC implemented a December 3 update to Discovery that resolved this bug.

RESOLVED: Single Sign On (SSO) problem when accessing through Discovery.

Deep links to content on the O'Reilly platform have recently been impacted by an issue affecting authentication. Links have since been upgraded in their entirety to account for SSO and should now prompt the user to authenticate and then take them straight to the title. If you continue to experience a lock on your O'Reilly account, please contact O'Reilly support to request this be lifted. We apologise for any inconvenience.

IPv6 affecting access HathiTrust and other e-resources platforms.

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) designed to solve the issue of IP4 exhaustion, is now a part of many e-resources providers networks, often with dual-stack IPv4/IPv6. Some Internet Service Providers (ISP) have incorporated IPv6 and we have become aware recently of a rare issue whereby a user's router might be set to send/receive IPv6 to sites that are not yet IPv6 compliant. The e-resources access was only resolved once a user disabled IPv6 on their router.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): VPN access restored. (Updated: Mon, 05/11/2020)

The VPN has been restored to full capacity and is once again available for accessing e-resources; however, to ensure stable performance for everyone in the McGill community, please continue to use EZproxy for accessing e-resources where possible.

Brill eBooks access has been restored. (Updated: Thurs, 05/14/2020)

We are currently seeing an access issue with the Brill eJournals platform: https://brill.com. At the moment, any of McGill’s titles on Brill are showing a “Login via Institution” message, despite the McGill user’s authentication through VPN or EZproxy.

The issue has been reported to Brill and further updates will be sent out as more information becomes available.

RESOLVED (May, 2020): We are seeing an issue with Wiley Online Library ebooks whereby PDFs for ebook content are not loading in the browser or permitting download over EZproxy. This is only for Wiley ebooks, their journals are not affected.
