Research institutions and associations

  • Centre for Performance Science: UK-based research institution linked to the Royal Academy of Music in London. Has published many studies regarding performers' health and well-being.
     
  • CIRMMT: Research Axis 3: Cognition, perception and movement: CIRMMT, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology, is a multi-disciplinary research group based at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. In keeping with the Centre's mission to develop innovative approaches to the scientific study of music, some CIRMMT researchers study the physiological aspects of music and their bearing on musicians' health and the prevention of injuries.
     
  • Musical Impact: Research project by a collective of UK conservatories on enhancing the health and well-being of musicians in Britain.

  • Performing Arts Medicine Association: Founded in 1989, the PAMA is the largest organization focused on improving the health of the performing artist. As well as publishing a journal, they provide resources on their site, including video interviews with some of their members.
     
  • Texas Center for Performing Arts Health: Research institution run by the University of North Texas on Performing Arts Health.
