LGBTQ+ Studies

Our clientele includes people who are questioning their sexual orientation or who feel unhappy about it, individuals and couples seeking to improve the quality of their interpersonal relationships, and couples and families who have concerns about a loved one’s sexual orientation. MUSIC also works to enhance the health of the larger community through research, education, outreach and advocacy around sexual orientation issues and homophobia.

We are one of five subcommittees; along with the subcommittees on Aboriginals, Disability, Race, and Women, we report directly to the Senate-Board Committee on Equity. Our mandate as an advisory body is to make recommendations to Senate for changes and improvements which need to be implemented on campus in order to ensure equity for all members of McGill's community.

As a feminist, sex-positive, anti-racist, anti-classist, anti-ableist, and anti-ageist organization, Queer McGill works to fight all forms of oppression. Through a variety of programming, including discussion groups, workshops, lecture series, and dance parties, Queer McGill provides space, opportunity, and a voice for queer students on campus and around Montreal.

Funds in hand, they appointed Vernon L. Strickland III as trustee. Having been a fraternity member during his time in university, Mr. Strickland knew well the benefits that are accrued from being involved with Greek life. On 20 February 1987, the first rush event was held at a local gay club. Two months later, in early April, Mr. Strickland initiated the first class of the Alpha chapter. Twenty-four years later, Delta Lambda Phi has over 30 chapters and colonies across the United States. The Beta Omega Chapter at McGill University is Delta Lambda Phi’s first chapter outside the United States.

The Open Book Library (OBL) is the only specialized documentation center on issues related to sexual diversity in Quebec and one of the largest in French-speaking nations and Canada. With its unique cultural heritage, the OBL plays a crucial role in the preservation and dissemination of Quebec and global LGBT memory.

The Archives gaies du Québec (A.G.Q.) is a not-for-profit community based organization that has the mandate to receive, conserve and preserve printed, electronic, visual and audio documentation about the history of the gay and lesbian community of Québec.

Founded in 2007 as an initiative of Montréal’s LGBT communities, Montréal Pride is now the largest LGBT gathering in the Francophone world. The organization’s primary mission is to support and promote local LGBT communities while serving as a beacon of hope for people around the world who continue to battle injustice. Each year, Montréal Pride attracts close to 400,000 local and international visitors during a week of cultural and Community activities, including the Pride Parade and Community Day.

Fugues permet aux gais et aux lesbiennes de la région de Montréal et du reste du Québec, de rester informé sur ce qui concerne spécifiquement leurs communautés. C’est pourquoi, plusieurs générations de gais et de lesbiennes du Québec apprécient beaucoup ce magazine et lui sont fidèles depuis trente ans.
