Databases and Search Tips

Subject guides are a great place to find subject-specific databases but here are good places to start:

  • Scopus (multidisciplinary)
  • Web of Science (multidisciplinary)
  • CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform (subject-specific)
provides references to the chemical literature, including substance and reaction information; useful for finding the experimental properties of substances
  • Compendex (subject-specific)
provides references to the engineering literature
  • PubMed (subject-specific; also known as Medline)
covers the health sciences literature, including bioengineering topics
  • Google Scholar
  • OpenDOAR (collection of open access repositories, including eScholarship

All you need is one good paper to help you find more - try these tips for expanding your search.
