Musicians' health and wellness

Musicians' health and wellness: Introduction

In the course of carrying out their profession, musicians face a particular set of challenges related to maintaining physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

This guide provides resources to support musicians' health and wellness, complementing initiatives of the Schulich School of Music in this area.

See also McGill's Student Wellness Hub ("Your one-stop shop for all things health and wellness") and the Schulich School of Music's Student health & well-being page (injury prevention tips, mental health tips, and a list of well-being services and professionals around McGill and Montreal).

NOTE: The resources on this Library guide cannot replace the advice of a health professional who specializes in treating musicians. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort while playing or singing, please stop immediately and seek help. If you are not sure of the available resources and need advice, please consult services available through the Student Wellness Hub or contact Douglas McNabney, Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, by email or on the 7th Floor (Elizabeth Wirth Music Building).
