Musicians' health and wellness

Musicians' health and wellness: Introduction

In the course of carrying out their profession, musicians face a particular set of challenges related to maintaining physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This guide provides resources to support musicians' health and wellness, complementing initiatives of the Schulich School of Music in this area.

See also the Health & Well-Being section of the School's Student Life page for injury prevention tips, mental health tips, and a list of well-being services and professionals around McGill and Montreal.

NOTE: These resources cannot replace the advice of a health professional who specializes in treating musicians. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort while playing or singing, please stop immediately and seek help. If you are not sure of the available resources and need advice, please contact Hélène Boucher, Wellness Program Coordinator, by email or in A619; Alexander (Zander) Masser, MSc, OT(c), erg., Local Wellness Advisor, by email or in A718; or Douglas McNabney, Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, by email or on the 7th Floor (Elizabeth Wirth Music Building).
