In response to COVID-19, over 2 million books from the Library's print collection (including in-copyright materials) are available online for all McGill students, faculty, and staff via the HathiTrust Digital Library's Emergency Temporary Access Service. A Terrace Pickup Service is available for print books not accessible electronically or through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). Only items located in the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex (Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering), Nahum Gelber Law Library, the Islamic Studies Library and the Marvin Duchow Music Library are available for the moment. McGill users are able to request up to ten items at a time using a form. The contactless terrace pickup service occurs twice a week from the terrace of the McLennan Library Building (3459 McTavish Street).

The Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) permits you to borrow documents that are not part of McGill Library’s collection. This service is offered exclusively to McGill professors, current students and staff as part of their teaching, learning, research and work activities at McGill University.
Requesting a document via interlibrary loan is done through Colombo, an online system used at all Québec universities.
