Japanese Studies

These are the resources and the services of the McGill Library for Japanese Studies research.

The McGill Libraries offers series of books designed to be used by Japanese language learners. These illustrated books consist of fables, simplified versions of modern fiction, history, biographies, etc. Reading these books, you can improve your Japanese and also expand your knowledge of Japanese culture and history.

ほんご よむよむ文庫 Nihongo Yomu Yomu Bunko (print)

Nihongo Yomu Yomu Bunko ほんご よむよむ文庫 (also, called Reberu betsu Nihongo tadoku raiburarī レベル別日本語多読ライブラリー) consists of 15 volumes divided into five levels (0-4). Each volume contains 4-6 booklets.

  • Request the delivery of individual booklets (“parts”) by clicking the “Request/Hold or Scan” button in the catalog record. 
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the request form and look for  “Need a specific copy or volume? Anything else we need to know about this request?” Enter the "pt." number and title.
  • Submit!

にほんご多読ブックス Nihongo Tadoku Bukkusu (electronic)

Nihongo Tadoku Bukkusu にほんご多読ブックス is divided into six levels (0-5).

  • Click "View eBook" in the catalog record.
  • Click (etsudoku) to read the book.
  • When you finish reading, click (etsudoku shūryō) on the top right corner of the screen.
  • Click (shichō) to listen to the audiobook.
