Which style should I use? Check your course outline or journal/publisher guidelines

  • APA Style is often used in social sciences, health, and some arts & science disciplines
  • Chicago Style is commonly used across the humanities, especially in history and art history
  • MLA Style is used primarily in the humanities, especially in literary disciplines
  • Vancouver Style is used primarily in the health sciences
  • IEEE Style is used primarily in engineering, computer science, and technological fields
  • Discipline-specific Resources lists different guides and manuals for citing in specific subject areas
