About this Course Guide

This guide provides you with an overview of resources necessary for your marketing plan in this course. The examples below show how to find more information about the Canadian snack food industries (savoury/salty and confectionery/sweet). You can use the same resources and steps for your own topic.

Passport

  1. Search your topic in the search bar on the top of the homepage, such as "snacks". 
  2. Select the "Analysis" tab to the right of the "Statistics" tab.
  3. In the "Refine Your Search" section, click on the "Geographies" option and choose "Canada".

There are two country industry reports that are useful for a project on snacks:

  1. Savoury Snacks in Canada
  2. Sweet Biscuits, Snack Bars and Fruit Snacks in Canada

  1. Search your topic in the search bar on the top of the homepage, such as "snacks". 
  2. In the "Refine By" section, click on the "Country" option and choose "Canada".

  2. Snacking Eating Habits (Canada)
  3. Snack, Nutrition and Performance Bars (Canada)

To find consumer data:

  1. Open Passport. 
  2. In the menu on the top of the page, click on the "Consumers" tab.
  3. Then click on the "Lifestyles" tab.
  4. In the middle of the page in the "Country Reports" box, select one of the 7 report options in the "Select a Category" drop down menu.
  5. Once you have selected a category, select "Canada" in the "Select a Geography" drop down menu.
