LGBTQ+ Health

A Note on Language

Language is constantly evolving. Within the context of LGBTQ+ health, some terms and phrases that were acceptable, even within the medical community, are now considered outdated, offensive, or culturally insensitive. We understand that using this terminology can perpetuate marginalization and may cause harm to individuals and communities.

However, when conducting a search for a knowledge synthesis, it is important to continue to use these terms so as to capture all relevant results. Do not hesitate to contact your librarian to discuss the use of these terms in your search.

Glossaries

Most glossaries can guide you when building your search. They provide important definitions for both outdated and still-used terms. Make sure to check the language used in other articles on your topic.
