This guide is intended as a portal to help students in EBOH discover and access datasets in support of coursework and research. The focus is on health data sources.

Questions to Ask

  1. Is there a government department or organization that would collect your data (e.g. Statistics Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, Canadian Institute for Health Information, RAMQ)? 
  2. Do you need very current or historical data? 
  3. Do you need data over time?
  4. What type of data do you need (demographic, health, vital, environmental hazards, disease)?
  5. What level of geography do you need (national, provincial, city-level, neighbourhood)?
  6. Are you planning to statistically analyze your data?
