Why this guide:
In response to the Provost's Anti-Black Racism Action Plan, the McGill Library wishes to contribute to the University's initiatives by highlighting resources from our collections and community created resources. We believe reading is a fundamental starting point to learning about Black History and Life in Canada and beyond. It is is one of many steps in contributing to dismantling Anti-Black Racism. Thus, we have curated at list of resources to help readers begin their learning journey.
What this guide is:
The primary goal of a library subject guide (LibGuide) is to help members of the McGill University community discover resources on a particular topic, in this case on Anti-Black Racism, both in Canada and abroad. It is a meta resource to other guides, tools, resources, books, etc. This guide focuses on Canadian resources available at the McGill University Library and targets those who wish to teach themselves about Anti-Black Racism.
What this guide is not:
This guide is not meant to be an exhaustive list of writings on Anti-Black Racism, but rather a starting point for those interested in learning more about this issue. We invite the McGill University community to share with us suggestions for readings, videos, podcasts, articles, etc. that we can contribute to this guide, as well as any comments or constructive suggestions.
