Collection consists of books and boxes of ephemeral material, including newspapers, newspaper clippings, single issues of periodicals, offprints, pamphlets, brochures, and copies of typescript documents. Collection also includes photographs (some framed), pictures, albums of clippings, 2 flags (Union Jack and Gaspard Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion) and other mementos. Two of the framed photographs are group pictures of No. 2 Construction Battalion, C.E.F., Truro, Nova Scotia, taken in 1916 (17 x 105 cm., 17 x 90 cm.).
The bulk of the material is dated: 1950-1979.

Collection of Canadian newspapers includes 45 issues of Contrast, (between Sept. 16, 1970 and Nov. 8, 1979), 16 issues of Oracle (between Nov. 4, 1976 and May 19, 1977), scattered issues of Uhuru, The Black voice, Umoja, Ebony express, Atlantic Black journal, Grasp, Islander, and single issues of Free Press, Young socialist, Labour, Maison d'Haiti, etc.
