Terminology changes over time

Consider changes in terminology over the years...

Example:

2016- current: countries classified by income since 2016 (low-income, lower-middle income, high income)

~1990’s-2016: developing/less developed/least developed/underdeveloped countries

 ~1947-1990’s: third world countries

Searching by geographic region

Use keywords and search in specific fields. Each database has fields that can be used to search for specific geographic locations.

For example in the Global Health database you have two useful fields:

  • IN (institution)
  • GL (geographic location)

Here is an example that shows how you can find articles by geographic location using a subject heading (see line 13) or by searching in specific fields using keywords:
