Searching the catalogue

Use the Sofia Discovery tool (the library catalogue) to find books. For example:

Do a keyword search for: railway safety
Find a good book, e.g. Railway safety, reliability, and security, and click on the title. You will see a subject heading listed in the Subject field: Railroads - Safety measures.
Click on the subject heading link to retrieve more books about that subject.

Search tips

Truncation symbol:	*	e.g. rail* will retrieve catalogue records containing the words rail, railway, railroad, etc.
Phrase searching:	"___"	e.g. "railway safety" will retrieve catalogue records containing the exact phrase: railway safety
Boolean operators:	(), AND, OR, NOT default: AND Boolean operators must be in capital letters	e.g. safety AND (railway OR railroad) will retrieve catalogue records containing the word safety AND either railway OR railroad
