Question frameworks

For intervention/experimental questions PICO or PICOT (or another framework) can be used to define your foreground question:

P = Patient/Population (the person or group you are working with)

I = Intervention (this can be a treatment, test, or something else you plan to use with your patient)

C = Comparison (this can be left blank if you aren't comparing two interventions)

O = Outcome (what you would like to achieve)

(T) = Time factors (does it matter when the treatment or test is given?)

For descriptive/exploratory questions PS can be used to define your foreground question:

P = Patient/Population

S = Situation

IMPORTANT: Making sure to ask a clear question and identify key concepts or ideas that you can translate into search terms is more important than which framework you use! If you prefer you can forgo the use of a framework entirely and simply identify key concepts/ideas for each question.
